Innovative Low Maintenance Front & Back Garden Makeover Walkerville.
A retired couple were wanting to have repairs done to aged paved paths, tidy up their existing front and rear garden beds with a low-maintenance solution, create a decked area at the rear of the property, install new garden sheds with a paved area and have new privacy screens erected.
With over 30 years landscaping experience, the team of landscapers from Visual Landscape Gardening were chosen to complete the works because of their extensive portfolio in all aspects of low maintenance garden design and construction.
Site preparation often includes removal of unwanted vegetation, including trees and shrubs that won’t be part of the new garden design and this project was no different.
Old pebbles, concrete and pavers that could not be re-laid or reused were also lifted and removed.
To all areas, including those that lawn had no chance of growing, where pavers were to be laid, site preparation included removal of soil before applying a compacted quarry rubble base.
Little Hampton Hills Gold pavers were chosen to be laid, topped with Pave Lok and concrete edging as required.
Several tubular garden sheds would be constructed on top of the pavers for storage of wood, fertilisers and potting mixes once laid.
Two Millboard composite deck areas were created to the rear; one to serve as a quiet place to sit and be immersed within the garden and the second in front of a fence screen to enable potted plants to be placed and watered.
A concealed fixing method was selected, attached to F7 treated bearers constructed on top of a rubble base with geo textile fabric placed to eliminate weed growth under the deck.
Along the side of the home, crazy paving was wet laid, replacing the existing laid in soil.
A new concrete base was poured, and the slate walls were re-laid, inclusive of waterproofing the neighbouring walls.
Front Garden areas were manually cultivated with Gypsum and soil conditioner and new plantings of ‘Myoporum‘ and ‘Dietes‘ were introduced.
One of the key low maintenance solutions was the laying, or we should say pouring of a binded soft-fall rubber mulch to garden beds at the front and rear.
This revolutionary product is the ultimate example of recycling. What was once tyres, now becomes a realistic looking mulch that doesn’t get blown around, dug up by birds, retards weed growth and comes in a choice of colour to suit your garden theme.
Visual Landscape Gardening’s team of licensed landscapers are proud to be leaders in South Australia, having the machinery and expertise to create both soft-fall rubber garden mulch and soft-fall granular rubber paths.
Needless to say, the clients were thrilled with all aspects of this low maintenance landscaping project, which used a number of innovative garden design solutions along the way.
